Samples Due Soon

by mary_lou_jepsen on April 23rd, 2009

Yesterday I spoke at the Interactive Displays conference in San Jose, CA and announced that samples of our screens are due at the end of May/early June. These samples are being made in the ample spare capacity of one of the largest LCD manufacturers in the world - and thus can be moved into high volume mass production quickly - this fall really.

We are starting with a 10.1″ screen that can fit into a standard netbook laptop, and is driven in the same way. It’s plug, form, fit compatible - meaning one can unplug the existing screen in a 10″ netbook and plug our new screen right in.

These screens have a paper-white epaper look with very high resolution and contrast - and - video rate update to allow scrolling, looking at video clips and so forth. With the backlight on they sport full color saturation and video.

More details to follow in the coming weeks,
Mary Lou

    Thrilling!
I’d love to get my hands on one of these and replace my preexisting MSI Wind netbook display. I bet a many other hardware tinkerers feels the same. Have you though about reaching out to the modding community in that way? Don’t underestimate the power of the buzz from hundreds of enthusiasts that start to very concretely remove their hardware through your product and then blog away about it. If your screen is as good as it seems then you’d quickly get a lot of user generated proof of concepts of your screen on various Netbooks. :-)

(And no, this is not just a thinly veiled request for you guys to send me one ASAP. But that said, if you have a spare I’ll take it :)

typo in last post; “remove” should be “replace” like so:

  3. I would love to get a sample screen for testing.

I’m running a website jkkmobile.com where I test netbooks and umpcs.

I’m known for my mods to these devices, so my readers have been asking me to test your screens. If that’s possible, please let me know. I have the skills to do it. ( you can contact me from my site )

Is there any info on the resolution of the screens in the different modes?

  7. I literally applauded when I saw the product section. BTW, great redesign, gives the whole site a pristine sharpness that goes well with my power hogging display ;-P.
